Aftershoker, Born To Rock
Written by Roilvn Whiro

Aftershocker is a band based out of Davis, Ca, and they are Born to Rock. The current album, Born to Rock, is on sale at the iTunes Apple Store. This Album has many many strong points, and i could count the people who wouldn't like it on one hand. Aftershocker, lead by Cooley, has such a wide sound on this one album, from a loud and rowdy rock and roll to a smooth and peaceful rock and roll with saxophone. Their sound to me, is untouchable to another band. Their sound are far from quaint or even your mother's music. From Nasty Nancey to kick off the album, you are on a ride through their lives. Though their whole album is great, My favorite songs on the album are Nasty Nancy, The Next Song, Same Song, Born to Rock, and BON. Overall, i would rate this Whole experience of their album up there with the very best their is, it is raw, dirty, uncut, and very real. The band themselves are a cool group of guys, who are always fun to hang out with, and with talent like this, they are also a kick ass band that is awesome live.

A fire at The Planet's hosting facility in Houston TX has taken the main RadioRevolt streaming server offline. For now we are running on a backup server but at a lower quality thanks to the ShellServers.net (site not yet up).

We will make an update when the stream is up and stable.

Thanks for rocking with us.

Male Rock Fans Likely To Vote Republican
Written by Rock On
Wednesday 02 April 2008 - 23:14:00

Reuters

LOS ANGELES - If you are male and a Led Zeppelin fan, chances are you may be leaning toward voting Republican in the U.S. presidential election, according to a survey of rock radio fans released on Wednesday.

The Jacobs Media's Media/Technology Web Poll IV of more than 27,000 respondents cited stronger than expected interest in the November 2008 election among fans of rock, classic rock, and alternative radio stations.

It also found that John McCain, the Republican candidate for U.S. president, was the top pick for the Oval Office for men and classic rock partisans -- those people who tune in to stations playing music from the "original classic rock era" of 1964 to 1975, comprised of bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd.

Jacobs Media said the survey, conducted among 69 U.S. rock-formatted stations in markets as diverse as Los Angeles and Knoxville to Buffalo, found 84 percent of the respondents planned to vote in the November election.

"People are clearly engaged by this election, even rockers. A lot of stations tend to shy away from politics because it's so polarizing, but this data suggests they'd better find a way to talk about politics this fall to keep listeners interested," said Fred Jacobs, president of Jacobs Media. He said the company threw the political questions in as an afterthought and was surprised by the results.

The survey was conducted in late February and early March.

About 30 percent of the respondents called themselves Democrats, while nearly 22 percent described their politics as Republican and 21 percent declared they were independents.

About 26 percent of the respondents either named a different party, preferred not to answer, or refused to categorize themselves.

The survey found women and fans of alternative radio, featuring '80s and '90s rock, tend to be Democratic, while men and classic rockers lean Republican.

Asked about their overall presidential preference, Democrat Barack Obama led the pack with 26 percent support among those planning on voting in the November election.

McCain ranked second with 22 percent and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton drew 18 percent.

There were also a fair share of write-in votes. Mickey Mouse ranked as the top presidential choice of 11 respondents, and singer Ted Nugent was written in by three members of the Rock sample.

Death of Radio Revolt in 15 Days
Written by Rock On
Sunday 16 March 2008 - 21:36:39
RadioRevolt.com will cease to exist as you know it come March 31st, 2008.

Devon, our gracious host at Veritris Hosting, is pulling the plug on Radio Revolt's main server and subsequently our ability to stream out to all of the other host that stream our high quality, ad-free radio around the internet.

This is not the first time Radio Revolt has faced uncertainty. Our very first host, Flameshells, cut us off for using 'too much bandwidth' in our second month of operation. However that was 2 years ago, this time our future is in a much harder economic time when services like ours demand donations from their users and sell ads in their streams just to get by.

Radio Revolt has always been a free service that never charged for our music, asked for donations or sold any kind of advertising in our stream. Our bitrate is one of the highest quality for rock music anywhere on the internet, which makes it even harder to find a decent host.

In our final days, at least as far as we know now, we want to take the time to thank all of the millions of listeners that have tuned in and rock out over the past few years and all of the indie bands that have driven more users our way.
Japan Will Ban File Sharing
Written by Rock On
Sunday 16 March 2008 - 20:01:54
from: TechCrunch

Japan has decided to beat France and the United Kingdom (both who have similar proposals) to become the first country to ban file sharers from the internet.

Oddly the agreement to do so has not come from the Japanese Government, but from Japan’s four internet service provider organizations after pressure (not surprisingly) from the record and movie industries. According to Torrent Freak, the agreement would see copyright holders tracking down file-sharers on the Internet using “special detection software” and then notifying ISPs of alleged infringers. File sharers will initially receive a warning for a first offense, then be disconnected for subsequent offenses, eventually be disconnected from the internet permanently (it wasn’t clear whether the agreement is a three strikes proposal).

The process will formally commence in April and will primarily target users of Winny, the most popular file sharing network in Japan.
